The Enrollment Window is December – February
All students who hope to start at a new school must register with OUSD
Admission to Chabot Elementary and other schools in the Oakland Unified School District is determined by the district’s Student Welcome Center, which is responsible for registering and assigning all OUSD students. This office is located at:

The school selection process begins in December, when parents or guardians can submit an online application through the OUSD website.
When submitting the application, you must also upload proof of your child’s age (birth certificate, passport, I-94, and one document to verify your address, such as utility bills, automobile registration with proof of insurance, homeowner or renter’s insurance policy, property tax statement, rental agreement, grant deed or title to your home, property tax statement or official letter from a social service or government agency. The Welcome Center reviews the applications and assigns each child to a school. Families will receive an email or text with your school assignment in March. Families have to accept or decline the offer.

Applications open December – February through Enrollwise.
The steps for enrollment are below:
- Explore – Use OaklandSchoolFinder to explore public school options in Oakland.
- Apply – Submit an application between December to February.
- Confirm – After you receive your offer in March accept (or decline) your school offer by the March deadline.
- Register – Online registration and/or registration paper forms will be available in Spring.

To enroll your student in Transitional Kindergarten (TK) through 12th Grade, please visit www.ousd.org/enroll.
Chabot Tours
In person tours take place in December & January. Currently tours are scheduled for:
- In-person tour: December 11th, 2024, 9-10am
- Virtual tour: December 17, 2024, 7-8 pm -- RSVP to margaret.thorp@ousd.org to receive Zoom link

Equitable Enrollment Pilot
Chabot is proud to be one of three schools in Oakland participating in an Equitable Enrollment Pilot. Under this pilot, families living in Priority Census Tracts where the median income is under $50,000, will be given priority in enrollment after siblings and neighborhood.
